It’s long been known by those lucky enough to live here or visit on holiday, but now a leading travel magazine has ranked Rhodes as one of the top ten islands in Europe. If you’re looking for that elusive mix of sun, sea, great food and history (and let’s face it, who isn’t?) this proves that Rhodes ticks all the boxes.
The influential Travel and Leisure Magazine, based in New York, this week ranked Rhodes an impressive sixth in the category for ‘Best islands in Europe’ as part of the magazine’s ‘World’s Best’ awards. The awards were voted for by travellers from around the world based on their own findings, showing that Rhodes offers one of the very best holiday experiences on the continent.
Voters were asked to review all aspects of their holiday – everything from the quality of the car rental agencies and hotels to the natural attractions, beaches, food, activities, friendliness of the people and value for money. Rhodes’ overall score across all categories was an amazing 86.3/100. We’d like to think we’ve done our bit in contributing towards that score!
The magazine described Rhodes as a place “where you can choose your own adventure: ruins or lazy basking in the sun, with a spectacular meal of fresh fish at the end of the day regardless.” Of course, it’s easy to see why travellers rate Rhodes so highly, given its stunning beaches, amazing history – both ancient and more recent – and the romantic city and Old Town with its beautiful architecture.
So now you know it’s a must-visit destination, why not check out our guide to the top places to visit in Rhodes? And remember, Auto Rhodes offers car hire from Rhodes airport, as well as from several other beautiful areas both in Rhodes and nearby such as Kiotari, Lardos, Lindos and Pefkos.
