Naturally, summer is the most popular time for tourists visiting Rhodes. This means that in Autumn the island is much quieter, allowing you to take in the sights and visit Rhodes’ many attractions without the hassle of long queues and busy streets.

The average temperature in September is around 24°C – the same as in June – and average temperatures do not drop below 20°C until November. Many of the island’s newest restaurants, bars and attractions emerge just before the next tourist season begins. Autumn visitors are often among the first to discover these exciting new places before they become widely known during the following summer.

5. Autumn is Festival Season

After the majority of tourists have left, Rhodes comes to life again with a series of local festivals and celebrations. One of the most important events is Ochi Day, celebrated on 28 October.

Ochi Day commemorates Greece’s refusal to accept an ultimatum from Benito Mussolini during World War II. The celebrations include parades and events throughout the island, with one of the largest taking place near Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes Town.

These local celebrations offer a fantastic opportunity to experience Greek culture and traditions in an authentic setting.
