Avoid the Crowds
October is still a busy month for our island, with around 250,000 visitors, but that’s only just over half of the visitor levels in August (our peak tourism season) and significantly lower than September.
During the summer months, popular destinations such as Rhodes Old Town and Lindos can become very crowded, with thousands of visitors exploring their narrow streets every day. October offers a more relaxed experience, allowing you to enjoy these iconic locations without the peak-season crowds.
Fewer visitors also mean less traffic, more available parking spaces, shorter queues at attractions, and a greater chance of finding the perfect spot on the beach or a table at your favourite restaurant.

It’s Still Warm – But Not as Intense
While temperatures are slightly lower than in September, Rhodes still enjoys average daytime temperatures of around 22°C in October. The cooler conditions make sightseeing far more comfortable than during the peak summer heat.
Whether you’re climbing to the Acropolis of Lindos, exploring Rhodes Old Town, or visiting historic landmarks around the island, October offers ideal weather for discovering Rhodes without the intense summer temperatures.

Events and traditions
October is one of the best months to experience the cultural side of Rhodes, with numerous festivals, exhibitions, concerts, and local celebrations taking place across the island.
Ochi Day
Celebrated on 28th October, Ochi Day is one of Greece’s most important national holidays. The island marks the occasion with military and community parades, especially around Mandraki Harbour and Rhodes Town, creating a unique cultural experience for visitors.
European Polyphony Festival
The European Polyphony Festival transforms Rhodes into a vibrant cultural hub featuring classical music concerts, art exhibitions, cinema screenings, workshops, and live performances. It’s running from 28th September to 10th October in 2026.
Medieval Festival of Rhodes
History enthusiasts will love the Medieval Festival of Rhodes, which recreates life during the era of the Knights of St. John and is usually held each October. Visitors can enjoy historical reenactments, traditional dances, parades, workshops, lectures, and medieval-themed events throughout Rhodes Old Town.
Festival of Ceramic Arts
Between June and end the end of October 2026 Rhodes is hosting the Festival of Ceramic Arts, which brings together work from over 40 artists from all over the world. The exhibition is spread across five sites in Rhodes Old Town.

October remains an excellent month for outdoor activities and sightseeing across Rhodes.
● Lindos Acropolis – One of the island’s most impressive archaeological sites, offering breathtaking views over Lindos and St. Paul’s Bay.
● Rhodes Old Town – Explore medieval streets, historic monuments, traditional shops, restaurants, and cafés.
● Boat Trips – Excursions to Symi Island and other nearby destinations continue throughout much of October, weather permitting.
● Beach Days – The sea remains warm enough for swimming. Popular choices include Anthony Quinn Bay, St. Paul’s Bay, and Prasonisi, where the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas meet.
